Calculate the volume of the following objects:

(i) An iron sphere of mass 5 kg, the density of iron is 8200 kgm⁻³. Ans. (6.1x10⁻⁴ m³)

(ii) 200 g of lead shot having density 11300 kgm⁻³. Ans.(1.77x10⁻⁵ m³)

(iii) A gold bar of mass 0.2 kg. The density of gold is 19300 kgm⁻³. Ans. (1.04x10⁻⁵ m³)

Formula:

As Density is defined as mass per unit volume. So,

Density = `\frac {Mass}{Volume}`

or

Volume = `\frac {Mass}{Density}`

(i) An iron sphere of mass 5 kg, the density of iron is 8200 kgm⁻³.

Given:

Mass of an Iron Sphere =  5 kg
Density an Iron Sphere =  8200 kg m⁻³

To Find:

The volume of an Iron Sphere = ?

Solution:

According to the formula

Volume = `\frac {Mass}{Density}`

 by putting values

Volume= `\frac {5 kg}{8200 kg m⁻³}`

Volume= 0.000609 m³

or

Volume = 6.1 x10⁻⁴ m³

Thus, the volume of an iron sphere is 6.1 x10⁻⁴ m³

(ii) 200 g of lead shot having a density of 11300 kg m⁻³.

Given:

Mass of lead shot = 200 g = 0.2 Kg
Density of lead shot = 11300 Kgm⁻³

To Find:

The volume of lead shot = ?

Solution:

According to the formula

Volume = `\frac {Mass}{Density}`

 by putting values

Volume = `\frac {0.2 Kg}{11300 Kgm⁻³}`

Volume= 0.00001769 m³

or

Volume = 1.77 x10⁻⁵ m³

Thus, the volume of the lead shot is 1.77 x10⁻⁵ m³

(iii) A gold bar of mass 0.2 kg. The density of gold is 19300 kg m⁻³

Given:

Mass of a Gold bar = 0.2 Kg
Density of a Gold bar = 𝜌 19300 Kgm⁻³

To Find:

The volume of a Gold bar = ?

Solution:

According to the formula

Volume = `\frac {Mass}{Density}`

 by putting values

Volume = `\frac {0.2 Kg}{19300 Kgm⁻³}`

Volume = 0.00001036 m³

or

Volume = 1.04 x10⁻⁵ m³

Thus the Volume of a Gold bar is 1.04 x10⁻⁵ m³
