Find the gravitational force of attraction between two spheres each of mass 1000 kg. The distance between the centres of the spheres is 0.5 m. Ans. (2.67 x10⁻⁴ N)
Given:
Mass of the each Sphere = m₁ = m₂ = 1000 kg = 10³ kg
The distance between the centres of the spheres = r = 0.5 m
Gravitational Constant = GG = 6.67 x 10⁻¹¹N m² kg⁻²
To Find:
The magnitude of Gravitational Force between the spheres = F = ? N
Solution:
According to the Law of Gravitation
F = Gm₁m₂r2
By putting values
F = 6.67x10⁻¹¹Nm²kg⁻²x10³kgx10³kg(0.5)2
F = 6.67(0.25} x 10⁻¹¹⁺³⁺³ N
F = 26.68 x 10⁻⁵ N
or
F = 2.668 x 10⁻⁴ N
