How much is the force of friction between a wooden block of mass 5 kg and the horizontal marble floor? The coefficient of friction between wood and the marble is 0.6. Ans. (30 N)
Given:
Mass of the block = m = 5 Kg
Coefficient of friction = 𝛍 = o.6
Gravitational Acceleration = g = 10 ms⁻²
To Find:
Force of friction = Fs = ?
Solution:
As we know that the formula for static friction is
Fs = 𝛍 R (where R=W=mg) So,
Fs = 𝛍 mg
by putting values
Fs = 0.6 x 5 Kg x 10 ms⁻²
Fs = 30 N
