Numerical Problem No. 8.2 (Thermal Properties of Matter) Physics SSC - I (Class 9)

Normal human body temperature is 98.6°F. Convert it into Celsius scale and Kelvin scale. Ans. (37°C, 310 K)

Given:

Normal Human body Temperature in Fahrenheit Scale = F = 98.6°F

To Find:

Normal Human body Temperature in Celsius Scale = C = ?

Normal Human body Temperature in Kelvin Scale = K = ?

Solution:  

The inter-conversion formula between Fahrenheit Scale and Celsius Scale is

C = `\frac {5}{9}`(F - 32)

by putting values

C = `\frac {5}{9}`(98.6 - 32)

C = `\frac {5}{9}`(66.6)

C = 37°C

Thus the Normal Human body Temperature in Celsius Scale is 37°C

Now the inter-conversion formula between Kelvin Scale and Celsius Scale is

K = C + 273

By putting values

K = 37 + 273

K = 310

Thus the Normal Human body Temperature on Kelvin Scale is 310.
