A 10-watt resister has a value of 120 Ω. What is the rated current through the resister? Answer (0.2886 A)
Given:
Power of resister = P = 10 w
Resistance of resister = R = 120 Ω
Time = t = 5 min = 300 s
To Find:
Current through the resister = I = ?
Solution:
We know that
P = I² R
or
I² = `\frac {P}{R}`
or
I = `\sqrt frac {P}{R}`
by putting values
I = `\sqrt frac {10 w}{120 Ω}`
I = `\sqrt frac {10 W}{120 Ω}` [ ∴ w = A²Ω]
I = `\sqrt {0.0833 A²}`
I = 0.2886 A -------------------Ans.
