Calculate the current through a single loop circuit if Ɛ = 120 V, R = 1000 Ω, and internal resistance r = 0.01 Ω. Answer (120 mA)
Given:
Battery e.m.f = Ɛ = 120 V
Resistance of the circuit = R = 1000 Ω
Internal resistance of the e.m.f source= r = 0.010 Ω
To Find:
Current through the single loop = I = ?
Solution:
Since we have
Ɛ = I ( R + r )
or
I = `\frac {Ɛ}{R + r}`
by putting the corresponding values
I = `\frac {120 V}{1000 Ω + 0.010 Ω}`
I = `\frac {120 V}{1000.010 Ω}`
I = 0.1199988 A
I = 0.120 A
I = 120 x 10⁻³ A
I = 120 mA ------------------ Ans.
