The peak voltage of an ac supply is 300 V. What is the RMS voltage? Ans (212.1V)
Data Given:
Maximum Voltage = `\V_{max}` = 300 V
To Find:
Root Mean Square (RMS) voltage = `\V_{rms}` = ?
Solution:
Since,
`\V_{rms}` = `\frac {V_{max}}{sqrt 2}`
putting values
`\V_{rms}` = `\frac {300 V}{sqrt 2}`
`\V_{rms}` = `\frac {300 V}{1.414}`
`\V_{rms}` = 212.132 V ------------------------Ans.
