An inductor with an inductance of 100 µH passes a current of 10 mA when its terminal voltage is 6.3 V. Calculate the frequency of A.C supply. Ans (10 Hz)

Data Given:

Inductance = L = 100 μH = 100 × 10⁻⁶ H

Current = I = 10 mA = 10 × 10⁻³ A

Voltage = V = 6.3 V

To Find:

Frequency of A.C. supply = f = ?

Solution:

The formula for the Frequency of A.C. supply is given by

f = `\frac {X_L}{2ㄫL}`

Where `\X_L` = Inductive Reactance =  `\frac {V}{I}` so,

f = `\frac {V}{2ㄫ L I}`

Now putting the corresponding values

f = `\frac {6.3 V}{2 × 3.1416 × 100 × 10⁻⁶ H × 10 × 10⁻³ A}`

f = `\frac {6.3 V}{6283.185 × 10⁻⁹ H A}`

f = 0.00100 × 10⁹ Hz

or

f = 1.0 × 10⁶ Hz -------------Ans.
