A man pulls a trolley through a distance of 50 m by applying a force of 100N which makes an angle of 30° horizontal. Calculate the work done by the man. (4330 J)
Given:
Distance moved = d = 50 m
Force applied by man = F = 100 N
Angle made by the force with horizontal = 𝞡 = 30°
To Find:
Work done by the man = W = ?
Solution:
As work is a scalar quantity and is given by
W = F . d = Fd cos 𝞡
by putting values
W = 100 N x 50 m x cos 30°
W = 5000 N m x 0.866
W = 4,330.127 J
or
W = 4,330 J -------------Ans
