Calculate the gain of an amplifier in which the collector resistance Rc is 5 kilo Ohm. The input resistance between the base and emitter of a typical transistor is 2.5 kilo Ohm and the value of its β = 100. Answer (250)
Given:
Collector Resistance = `\R_C` = 5 kΩ = 5x10³ Ω
Base-Emitter Resistance = `\r_{ie}` = 2.5 kΩ = 2.5x10³ Ω
Current Gain = β = 100
To Find:
Voltage gain = A = ?
Solution:
The Voltage Gain A can be calculated by a formula
A = - β`\frac {R_C}{r_{ie}}`
putting values
A = - 100 x `\frac {5x10³ Ω}{2.5x10³ Ω}`
A = - 100 x 2
A = - 200 ---------------Ans.
The -ve sign shows that input and output are out of phase at an angle of 180°.
