Gender Noun:

Living things are either male or female.


Masculine gender:

A noun that denotes men, boys, or male animals is said to be masculine gender.

Example:

Father, Sir, Son, Brother, Dog, Horse, lion, etc.

  • My nephew is learning to ride a bicycle.
  • Ali's grandfather lived in Karachi.


Feminine gender:

A noun that denotes women, girls, or female animals is said to be feminine gender. 

Example:

Mother, Madam, Daughter, Sister, bitch, mare, lioness, etc.

  • Raza met his aunt last year.
  • There is a lioness in the zoo.


Common gender:

Common gender refers to nouns that can be male or female.

Example:

Person, student, parent, child, singer, lawyer, engineer, neighbor, etc.

  • The patient is sleeping.
  • My cousin will visit us soon.
  • The baby is crying loudly.
  • A bird is chirping in a tree.
  • These workers are hard-working.


Neuter gender:

A noun that denotes a thing that is neither a male nor a female ( i.e a thing without life ) is said to a Neuter gender. 

Example:

Book, Pencil, desk, chair, tree, etc.

  • We stayed at a hotel.
  • There are many trees in the farmhouse.
