It is the base unit of Temperature in the International System of Units (SI), having the unit symbol 'K'.


Definition:

One Kelvin is equal to the `\frac {1}{100}` parts of the difference between the melting point of ice and the boiling point of water. 

Or 

One Kelvin is equal to `\(frac {1}{273.16})^{th}` part of the thermodynamic temperature of the triple point of water ( 273.16K) 

Triple point temperature: The temperature at which all the three states of matter co-exist at equilibrium or thermodynamically the same.
